Document Encryption
The SHIELD DRM service provides encryption for File Documents and protects organizations from data breaches through a Document Centric Security and a shared responsibility model.
Document Encryption Method
Microsoft 365 users apply MIP labels when uploading files to OneDrive/SharePoint.
When you upload an existing DRM encrypted document, SHIELD DRM automatically converts it to a MIP document.
*MIP (Microsoft Information Protection) is Microsoft's information protection and management solution, used to protect and manage organizational data through labels, classification, and security policies.*
SHIELD DRM Security linkage and Cloud-Native Encryptionprocess
- Upload DRM files to the File Document environment such as Teams and OneDrive.
- Automatically converts DRM documents uploaded by SHIELD DRM into MIP (Microsoft Information Protection) documents.
- The converted MIP document can be viewed/edited/co-edited in the Microsoft365 environment.
Providing DRM Integration and Compatibility on Local PC
With the Document Security 365 feature, you can convert DRM documents to MIP or vice versa.
Main Features:
- Document Conversion via Mouse Right-Click Shell Menu for DRM / MIP
- Mapping DRM policies to MIP policies to provide conversion to each associated encryption policy.
In Document Security 365, the icon of documents with MIP labels is displayed, and the encryption status can be confirmed by the label color.
Operating Environment and Precautions
- The Document Security 365 feature is included in the SHIELD DRM plan and requires a subscription to Microsoft Business Premium or a plan of E3 or higher to be used.
